Bobby Glenn Malone, 55, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011 at Russellville Hospital.
Bobby was a lifetime resident of Franklin County and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He was currently employed by the Russellville Fire Department and had served as Fire Marshall/Assistant Chief since 2003. Bobby had worked for the Russellville Fire Department for the past 31 years. He became a Lieutenant in the department in 1990. He was chosen Firefighter of the year in 1984 and 2003. He was also a licensed paramedic who worked for Northstar EMS for many years. He received numerous certifications through the Alabama Fire College. He was a member of the Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs, Alabama Association of Fire Marshalls and the National Fire Protection Association.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Russellville, with Wayne Boyles and Alan Compton officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Russellville. Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville assisted the family.
He is survived by his former wife, Lee Malone; friend, Shelia Davis; sons, Michael Glenn Malone and wife, Lisa, and Wesley Wheeler Holden; daughter, Heather Malone Calvert and husband, Darryl; grandchild, Makayla Grace Malone; brothers and sisters, Rosemary Godsey and husband, Thomas, Malinda Jean Watkins and husband, Dwayne, Patricia Mae Pope, Roy Lee Malone and wife, Carla, Judy Renea Taylor, Tony Malone and wife, DeAnna, Timmy Malone and wife, Amy, Debbie Hester and husband, Roger, Stacey Hamilton and husband, Ron; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Oliver.
Pallbearers will be Russellville firefighters, Ray Nichols, John James, Steve Thornton, Aubrey Harris, Randy Seal, Denny Davis, Justin Green, Neil Willis and Joe Mansell.
Honorary bearers will be the rest of the members of the Russellville Fire Department and NorthStar EMS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Gene and Mary Ellen Malone.
