Haleyville man pleads to misdemeanor in drug case

A Haleyville man pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drug charges on Wednesday for his involvement in a drug case from April.

Bryan Keith Snider, 43, 340 Winston 479, Haleyville, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and received a one-year sentence in jail, Franklin County Assistant District Attorney Doug Evans said.

According to Evans, Snider was arrested along with Rachel Michelle Peters, 29, of Hackleburg, and Jason Lee Hall, 38, of Haleyville, for second-degree unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance.

Evans said Snider was a passenger in a vehicle belonging to Peters on April 19, 2010, when officers discovered pseudoephedrine pills in the truck of the car.

At first, no one claimed the pills, but Peters later said the pills were hers and Snider and Hall didn’t know they were there, Evans said.

Records indicate Peters pleaded guilty to second-degree unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance in November, which is why Evans decided the plea agreement was a fair deal.

“Based on the information Peters gave us when she pleaded guilty this fall, we felt comfortable offering the misdemeanor charge with the one-year sentence to Mr. Snider,” Evans said.

Evans added Snider was already in jail on a child support violation, so he will begin serving his one-year sentence immediately.
