Area under winter storm warning; schools dismissing at 2 p.m
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for north Alabama through Thursday morning.
A winter storm warning means significant snow accumulations that could impact travel are expected.
Russellville City Schools and Franklin County Schools will dismiss Wednesday at 2 p.m. Schools will be delayed until 10:30 a.m. Thursday. However, a re-evaluation of the situation will be made at 9 a.m. Thursday to determine if classes can be held.
There will be no After-School Programs or Chucky Mullins Programs Wednesday.
Weather forecasters are predicting that two to three inches of snow could fall in north Alabama. The winter storm warning will be in effect from 3 p.m. today until 6 a.m. Thursday.
The snow is expected to begin in northwest Alabama around 3 p.m. and could begin accumulating on roads and bridges by early evening.
