Obert W. Roberts, 89, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at Huntsville Hospital.
Mr. Roberts was a native of Lawrence County but had lived in Russellville for several years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a World War II veteran, and was retired as a quality assurance controller for the Department of Defense and most recently the David B. Lilly Company. He was a member of Spruce Pine Masonic Lodge #608 and was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at 1 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Phil Campbell. Officiating will be Joe Lenox and Wade Wallace. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Roberts, of Russellville; daughter, Brenda Sutherland and husband, Rob, of Somerville, Ala.; son, J.P. Roberts and wife, Dorlis, of Forest City, N.C.; step-daughter, Glenda Lee and husband, Jerry, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Jamie Roberts and wife, Shelley, Dawn Hagstrom and husband, Dore, Scott Sutherland and wife, Janice; seven great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Jason Greear, Joshua Greear and wife, Sarah, Sarah Greear, and Gary Lee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Roberts; and parents, Preston and Goldie Roberts.
