Medical facility receives MRI accreditation
Russellville Diagnostics Center, LLC has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
MRI is a noninvasive medical test that utilizes magnetic fields to produce anatomical images of internal body parts to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 34,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
Russellville Diagnostics Center opened in January of 2010 and offers services in MRI, nuclear medicine, X-ray and ultrasound. The MRI system, the Philips Panorama 1.0T, offers physicians high-field image quality for advanced application, and also features a completely open design that makes getting an MR scan more positive. Many patients, due to their size or feelings of claustrophobia, prefer open MR systems.
The Panorama 1.0T features the widest patient gap of any high-field MR system. And, physicians will appreciate the high-resolution images that enable them to make better diagnoses.
“The Panorama 1.0T MR system we have installed offers an unprecedented combination of clinical excellence and patient acceptance. Getting this power in an open design gives us a lot of flexibility. We’re able to see more patients, give them a comfortable experience and get the most effective results from our work. This system is a tremendous benefit to the community,” said Vikki Simpson, Medical Director of Russellville Diagnostics Center.
Russellville Diagnostics Center is located in the old Food World building at the intersection of Hwy 43 and Hwy 24 in Russellville. For more information, call 256-332-1996.
