Bobcats fall to Lexington

PHIL CAMPBELL — The Bobcats played another close region game, but came out on the short end with a 28-26 loss to Lexington.

Phil Campbell (3-3, 1-3) scored first when Craig Saint scored on an 18-yard run set up by a fumble recovery by Zach Smith. Saint added the point-after kick to give the Bobcats a 7-0 lead.

Lexington took the lead with a touchdown, but Phil Campbell regained the lead on a 9-yard scoring pass from Corey Alexander to Dylan Rice. The point-after attempt failed.

Lexington added another touchdown, but once again the Bobcats answered quickly when Saint scored on a 4-yard run with 12 seconds remaining in the half to give Phil Campbell a 19-14 lead at halftime.

Lexington added a pair of scores in the fourth quarter to take a 28-19 lead before Phil Campbell scored on an 8-yard run by Alexander.

The Bobcats recovered an onside kick with 1:15 to play in the game, but the drive ended when a fourth-down play came up one yard short of moving the chains.

Alexander completed 20-of-31 passes for 250 yards.
