PC hosts Lexington
PHIL CAMPBELL — Until last week, Phil Campbell (3-2, 1-2) had not had a two-game winning streak since the 2005 season.
This week they will try to keep that streak going while trying to end another — a four game skid against Class 2A, Region 8 foe Lexington (3-2, 2-1).
The Bobcats have lost all four meetings between the two programs, and with Phil Campbell’s 1-2 record in region play the team cannot afford a loss this week if it wants to stay in the playoff hunt.
Phil Campbell is currently fifth in the region while Lexington, Colbert Heights and Lamar County are tied for second. The top four teams reach the playoffs.
A win against Lexington would help Phil Campbell’s playoff chances. The Bobcats still have region games against Cherokee, Red Bay and Sulligent — which currently leads the region standings.a
The Bobcats high-scoring offense is averaging 36.6 points per game and the defense is allowing 27.6 points per game.
Lexington is scoring 24.2 points per game while allowing 19.6 points.
