This year the annual Franklin County Farm-City Banquet will be held Thursday, Nov. 15 at the A.W. Todd Centre in Russellville beginning at 6:30 p.m.
This year the emcee will be Dr. Wayne Ray.
Franklin County Extension Agent Tim Reed said the event has been going strong in Franklin County for more than 50 years.
"We've been doing this since the 1950s," he said. "We even had it two years ago when we like to have gotten blow away by a hurricane."
The Franklin County Cattlemen will provide the meal, which will include a ribeye steak, grilled chicken breast, baked potato, salad, bread tea and cake. The award winning Red Bay High School FFA quartet will provide the entertainment.
Numerous awards will be presented including the county winners of the Farm-City poster contest, Conservation Cooperator of the Year, Environmental Teacher Award, Special Recognition Award, Cattle Producer of the Year, and Citizen of the Year.
Last year more than 150 people attended the banquet and Reed said they are hoping for another large crowd this year.
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, the Franklin County Natural Resource Conservation Service, the Franklin County Extension office and the Franklin County Coop.
Proceeds from the banquet will be used by the county Cattlemen's association to provide college scholarships for local high school graduates.
