The RHS junior varsity team has compiled a perfect 4-0 record this season, with three games left to play. The Golden Tigers kicked off their season Aug. 4 with a 24-12 win at Colbert Heights. In Week 2, Russellville traveled to Hamilton and picked up a 36-12 victory. The Golden Tigers finally returned home Sept. 18 and downed Muscle Shoals 34-8. Last week Russellville hosted the Curry Yellow Jackets and easily won 36-14 after a quick start in the first quarter that featured two scores by the Golden Tigers in the opening 30 seconds. Ward returned the opening kickoff 78 yards for the first touchdown. The Golden Tigers recovered Curry's fumble on the ensuing kickoff at their own 4-yard line, and running back Jesse Green scored on the next play. The Russellville junior varsity and middle school squads play at Deshler Monday, Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m. (MS) and 7:30 p.m. (JV).
