QUITMAN Services for Vernon Lucas will be held today at 2 p.m. at East Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Albert Creel and Paul Childress officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lucas, 84, of Quitman, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, in his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force and served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ramon Lucas; sons, Robby Lucas and his wife, Doris and Michael Lucas and a brother, Earl Lucas, all of Quitman; a sister, Natalie Smith of Meridian; grandchildren, Brian Lucas, Robyn Lucas and Hope Lucas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Lucas and Evie Taylor.
Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the church.
GILBERTOWN, Ala. Services for Carol Ann Pirie Bonner will be held Sunday at 10 a.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in Advent Cemetery in Silas, Ala. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bonner, 62, of Silas, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include her mother, Virginia Hummel Pirie of Los Altos, Calif.; her husband, Clarence Paul Bonner of Silas; a son, Richard "Ricky" Charles Bonner and his wife, Tanual, of Silas; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Long Bonner of Butler; brothers, William "Bill" Pirie and his wife, Carol, of San Jose, Calif. and Charles "Cap" Pirie and his wife, Glenda, of Fort Worth, Texas and seven grandchildren.
The family requests that everyone sign an organ donor card in memory of Mrs. Bonner.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dietitian for Meridian Public School District
Services for Viola T. Camper will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Anderson Temple Church of God in Christ with the Pastor Superintendent George Murray and Elder Kippie Paige officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. E.E. McDonald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Camper, 84, of Meridian, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Walter M. Camper; her children, Evangelist Walter S. Camper and his wife, Josie, Charles Camper and his wife, Fransenna, all of Meridian, Katherine Ford and her husband, Melvin, of Chicago, Evangelist Bernice Inge, Cynthia Taylor and her husband, Ethan, all of Memphis, Tenn.,and Samuel Camper and his wife, Katherine, of Las Vegas; 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at E.E. McDonald Community Chapel in Meridian.

Services for David Lenard Swearingen Sr. was held Friday at noon at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Lonnie Byrd, James Messer and Bruce Moseley officiating. Burial was in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Duffee.
Mr. Swearingen, of Mobile, Ala., died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, in his home. He was a native of Chunky and retired in 2002 as senior vice president at Regions Bank after a more than 45 years in banking. Following his retirement, he served as interim treasurer of the Mobile Baptist Association.
He was an active member of Zion Baptist Church and served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher as well as chairman of numerous committees during his 43 years as a member.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and was active in many civic and sports organizations in Mobile. He was past president of the Loop Lions Club and was honored with The Melvin Jones Award.
Mr. Swearingen graduated from Suqualena High School near Meridian and Memphis State University School of Banking. He held graduate certificates from the American Institute of Banking.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Warren Swearingen; a son, David Swearingen Jr. and his wife, Michelle; a daughter, Angela Jackson and her husband, Donald; grandchildren, Emily Darlene Jackson, William Luke Jackson, Lillian Jane Swearingen and Anne Morgan Swearingen, all of Mobile; sisters, Ruth Gressett of Fairhope, Ala., Mary Harris of Mobile, Martha Swearingen of Meridian and Sarah Sellers of Toomsuba; brothers, Paul Swearingen of Suqualena and James Swearingen of Hickory; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Del Davison, Tim Gressett, Eric Harris, Tommy Taylor, Orvil Skinner, Dane Skinner, Mack Harris and Ted Sellers.
Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for William Burt, 64, of Meridian.
