Grand jury issues drug indictments

A federal grand jury indicted eight people on Thursday for distributing controlled substances such as OxyContin and others containing hydrocodone in Neshoba County as early as May 2001 and June 7, 2002.
Indicted were: Travis Lance Hutchison, Belinda Darnell Betts, Johnnie Clayton Bounds, Cheryl Dawn Harrell (also known as Cheryl Dawn Robinson), Richard Lynn Stewart, Kathy Myatt Stokes, Joel Clark Stokes and Michael Green.
The indictment said that the defendants and their co-conspirators, at the direction of Hutchison, frequented numerous medical doctors to legitimately and fraudulently obtain prescriptions for the drugs.
The indictment said that Hutchison paid for the doctor visits and prescriptions in exchange for receiving a portion or all of the prescribed medication.
The same grand jury also indicted 21 people for distributing the same drugs, also in Neshoba County but this time from as early as April 1999 to March 29, 2002.
Indicted were: Joe Oneal Tingle, Terry Glen Betts, Belinda Darnell Betts, Steve Code Cannon, Phoebe Lynn Cabrera (also known as Phoebe Bozeman), Britton Lloyd Johnson, John Howell Clark, Terry Lamar White, Johnnie Clayton Bounds, Dan Verell Mitchell, Mary Virginia Fulton, Cheryl Dawn Harrell (also known as Cheryl Dawn Robinson), Richard Lynn Stewart, Kathy Myatt Stokes, Joel Clark Stokes, Eric Keith Jenkins, Billy Edward Colburn, Douglas Wright Martin, Halane Chisolm Pike (also known as Halane Smith), Billy Thomas Pike and Michael Green.
The indictment said that the defendants and their co-conspirators, at the direction of Joe Doyle Callahan, frequented numerous medical doctors to legitimately and fraudulently obtain prescriptions for the drugs.
The indictment said that Callahan paid for the doctor visits and prescriptions in exchange for receiving a portion or all of the prescribed medication. The indictment said Callahan was charged in a separate indictment.
