SBA office assists tornado victims

NEWTON The federal government has opened an office here to provide low-interest loans for rebuilding businesses and residences in the aftermath of the Dec. 19 tornado.
The Small Business Administration is located at the Early Head Start Center at Third Avenue and Bonnie J Street.
Rodney B. Jones, a supervisory loan officer from the SBA's Atlanta office, said the Newton office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and will also be open this Saturday only from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
However, Jones said, the deadline for filing applications for physical damage to homes, property and businesses is Feb. 24.
He said anyone with questions can also telephone 1-800-359-2227.
