James H. Miles Jr.
Owner of Red Hot Cafe
Services for James "Jimmy" H. Miles Jr. will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Carl White, Melvin Boles and Mike Boles officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Miles, 63, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was the founder and owner of AllKill Pet Control and the Red Hot Cafe. Mr. Miles was a business owner for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn E. Miles of Meridian; five sons, James H. Miles III and his wife, Vera, of Meridian, Morris "Wayne" Miles and his wife, Abby, of Florence, Gene Miles and his wife, Tammy, of Meridian, Charles Ray Miles of Atlanta and Wallace Miles and his fiance, Kelly Mathis, of Meridian; eight grandchildren, Crystal Hughes, Lance Miles, Audrey Miles, Valeri Miles, Dylan Miles, Jacob Miles, Brandy and Patrick; four great-grandchildren, Chase Hughes, Caitlyn Hughes, Gracie and Hannah; three brothers, Rodney Miles and his wife, Joanne, of Meridian, Gordon Miles of Houston, Texas, and Wayne Miles and his wife, Rose, of Bay City, Texas; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary L. Walker and his father, James Harvey Miles Sr.
Pallbearers will be Gene Gray, Gene Jones, Curtis Parker, Keith McPherson, Skip Holloway and James Miles.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Gladys E. Smith

Services for Gladys E. Smith will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James A. Ruffin officiating. Burial will be in Causeyville Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith, 97, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church and past member of the TEL Sunday School Class. Mrs. Smith was a loving mother and grandmother. She was known to all as a very special "Maw Maw."
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Wilmer and her husband, James, of Brandon; two sons, Richard Clay Smith and his wife, Joy, of Nashville and Any Smith and his wife, Suzanne, of Meridian; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Brooks Smith.
The family requests memorials be made to Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church or Causeyville Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lorena Crawford

Graveside services for Lorena Crawford will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery with the Revs. Jimmy Sanders and Bob Followell officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Crawford, 88, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at The Speciality Hospital of Meridian.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jean Griffin of McAllister, Okla., and Bonnie James of Meridian; two sons, Ray Crawford of Lumberton and Joe Crawford of Smiths, Ala.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.E. "PeeWee" Crawford.
Jerry Aurther Poffahl
Graveside services for Jerry Aurther Poffahl will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Poffahl, 42, of Bailey, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, in his home.
Survivors include three brothers, Ernest Edward Poffahl Jr., James Poffahl and Robert Poffahl, all of Meridian; two sisters, Bonnie Ann Harris of York, Ala., and Judith Lynn Poffahl of Arizona; a niece, Anastasia Crystene Poffahl; and a nephew, William Robert Poffahl.
