The Meridian Police Department arrested seven homeless people on public drunk charges Thursday behind the Foodmax grocery store near Sowashee Creek on North Frontage Road.
Detective Deano Harper, an MPD spokesman, said the arrests were made after a few residents had complained about the group.
Besides public drunk charges, Harper said, each person in the group also faces disorderly conduct charges. All seven remained in the Lauderdale County Jail on Thursday.
