Valentine, Crotts

Janet Leigh Crotts and Dr. John David Valentine were married Saturday, July 27, 2002, at First United Methodist Church in Columbia, Tenn., with the Rev. Frank Smith officiating the 6 p.m. ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crotts of Columbia, and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Valentine of Newton.
Nuptial music was provided by Mrs. William Arnett, organist; and Thomas Vann, soloist.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a diamond white satin strapless gown with a natural waistline sweeping into a chapel-length train embellished with crystal beads and seed pearls.
A crystal tiara anchored her waist-length veil of illusion fashioned by the bride's mother from her own wedding train. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of mixed shades of coral and white gerbera daisies.
The bride's sister, Jill Crotts, served as honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Kaki Cantrell, Beth Sweeton and Tara Beever. Candace Cates and Chelsea Cates were junior bridesmaids.
Kelsie Crotts was flower girl and Kayla Goodman was guest book attendant. Program attendants were Laura Winchester and Mary Lela Valentine.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen were Will Witherow, Scott Witherow and Dr. Chris Cooley. John Dorrill and Patton Valentine were ushers.
Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the historic Rattle and Snap Plantation.
On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom's parents hosted a rehearsal party at the Cambridge Inn.
The couple resides in Augusta, Ga., where the bridegroom is a surgery resident at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital.
Valentine, Crotts honored with prenuptial parties
Prenuptial parties honoring Janet Leigh Crotts and John David Valentine included a bridal shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Lovell. The event was hosted by Sharon Lovell and Linda Case.
Other events included a bridal tea at First Baptist Church in Newton, with the ladies of the church serving as hostesses, and a lingerie and bachelorette party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Brown in Franklin, was hosted by Kelly Brown and Jill Crotts.
Other parties include a bridal tea at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Mark Brewer with June Brewer, Jane Moore, Mary White and Martha Woody serving as hostesses, and a bridesmaid's luncheon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cathey, hosted by Barbara Winchester and Laura Winchester.
