RHS hosts annual tournament

The Russellville High School varsity girls hosted their annual Thanksgiving Tournament last week.
3A state champion Sheffield and perennial title contenders Lauderdale County and Deshler were part of a 13-team field that included local teams Belgreen and Red Bay. The Lady Bulldogs finished 0-2 in the tournament, while the Lady Tigers went 2-1.
After receiving a first-round bye, the young Lady Golden Tigers, who only have two seniors (JaLesa Hamilton and Victoria Taylor) and one sophomore (Erin Hamilton) on their roster, defeated Haleyville 56-42 last Friday and lost 79-37 to tournament champion Deshler and 64-44 to Florence on Saturday.
Tosha West led Russellville with 23 points against Haleyville, while Victoria Taylor added 12 and Jarnie Dunley had seven. Ayanna McCullough (6), Taylor Smith, (6), and Erin Reynolds (2) also scored.
Reynolds and West each scored 12 points against Deshler, and Megan Washington had four. Taylor (2), Dunley (2) and McCullough (1) also scored.
Reynolds and West both finished with 14 against Florence, while Taylor had seven and Smith (5) and Dunley (4) also scored.
