Traffic stop ends in arrest for possession
March 5 officers from the Russellville Police Department took a Russellville man into custody following a traffic stop.
According to Sgt. Jake Tompkins, the initial stop was around the intersection of Highway 43 and LaGrange Road in Russellville. Officers stopped Labardo Navarretta, 34, for a traffic infraction, but once they made contact with the driver, the situation became more serious.
“There was an open alcoholic beverage seen in plain view in the vehicle,” Tompkins said.
That discovery led to an investigation in which officers found narcotics and a weapon inside the vehicle.
Navarretta was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), drunkard/addict in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana second degree, drug paraphernalia and having an open container.
