It was a tough night for Franklin County football teams. Three teams went on the road – Tharptown, Red Bay and Vina. Phil Campbell stayed home hosting Hatton. All four lost, each scoring one touchdown or less on the night.
Hatton jumped out to a 40-0 lead before the Bobcats were able to get on the scoreboard on a late four-yard touchdown pass from Peyton Thomas to Brandon Thomas. Peyton ran the ball into the endzone for the two-point conversion to make the final score 40-8.
Red Bay traveled to Sulligent Friday night. The Tigers fell to the Blue Devils 35-7. Sulligent scored the first 28 points unanswered before the Tigers got on the board early in the fourth quarter with a five-yard touchdown run by Aaron Lewey.
Lewey had 123 yards rushing on 21 carries in the game. Sulligent tacked on one more touchdown late in the game.
Vina traveled to Hackleburg. The Panthers took an early 14-0 lead before the Red Devils were able to tack on their lone score of the game on a 12-yard pass from Austin Harper to Blake Hardin. The score cut the Panthers’ lead to 14-6. Hackleburg scored their next 28 points unanswered to close out the game.
Tharptown traveled to Cherokee and took a 70-0 loss.
