Fans invited to choose bands for Watermelon Fest

The annual Watermelon Festival is set for Aug. 18-19 in downtown Russellville. Who will be taking the mainstage this year? Well, that’s up to the voters.

For the 37th Annual Watermelon Festival, the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is letting fans decide who will provide the musical entertainment. Ten bands have been selected to receive votes. The top five bands will obtain spots on the mainstage as this year’s Watermelon Festival entertainment.

The bands are: Dixie Mafia, Kerry Gilbert Band, Southern Heat Band, Joseph Baldwin Band, First Born Sons, Rewind, Purpose, Jarred Pierce, Cadillacs and Tremayne.

“By allowing the community and fans to vote, they become a vital part of the Watermelon Festival planning process,” explained chamber Director Cassie Medley. “As always, the purpose of this Franklin County event is to provide a family friendly environment in which the entertainment is a key element. Because the community supports the festival (rain or shine), the Chamber Board appreciates their input.”

Fans may cast one vote, per device, per day by visiting franklincountychamber.org and click on the radio button for their favorite band from March 1-31.
