RBHS purchases new computers

By Brandi Miller for the FCT

Teachers at Red Bay High School recently received a technology upgrade, thanks to the Red Bay City Council and the Education Committee. A total of 49 new computers were installed for teachers throughout the school.

The teachers all received Dell XE2 computers, which is a upgrade from the Dell Optiplex 740 they were using.

“Our computers were in need of replacement for some time,” said RBHS Principal Kenny Sparks. “I would like to thank the education committee for working with our city council to make this a reality. We have not been receiving tech money for the past few years, (since 2008). We would normally replace computers with the tech money from the state funding, but since we have not had the pool of money, our computers had progressively gotten to a point of non-functioning.”

This is a lease program that will roll these computers off after four years, Sparks said.

The computers were installed in the classrooms over a three-week period.
