Russellville sweeps Haleyville on Senior Night

Golden Tiger Senior Adonnis Bailey scored 18 points to lead four Russellville players in double figures Friday night as they scored a big senior night win and snapped a four-game losing skid with a 65-48 win over Haleyville.
Senior guard Joshua Seal had a big night for Russellville, scoring 16 points, including a pair of in the second half that surged a spark as the Golden Tigers closed on a 13-0 run. RHS was trailing 37-34 late in the third, but after momentum shifted back in Russellville’s way, Seal then followed up with a three to close out the third quarter and then another to open the fourth, giving Russellville a 43-37 lead.
The Golden Tigers would stretch the lead to ten in the fourth. Russellville kept pouring it on, getting nine fourth-quarter points from Seal and eight each from Bailey and Avery Sears to pull away.
The Golden Tigers then out-scored Haleyville 16-15 in the third quarter and 25-11 in the fourth.
Austin Stidham (11) and Sears (10) finished in double figures, and McNutt added six off the bench. Kamar Baugh and Taylor Vincent each had two.
Russellville played last night in the Class 5A, Area 14 tournament at West Point High School, with a 7:30 p.m. game against Lawrence County. Results were not available as of press time.
Russellville 53, Haleyville 33
Senior Megan Brockway led all scorers with 12 of her points coming in the third quarter Friday night, helping give the Lady Golden Tigers their tenth win of the season.
Madison Murray added 11 points for Russellville (10-15), and senior Tia Smith finished with 10. Brockway hit two threes in the third quarter, helping the Lady Golden Tigers out-score Haleyville 23-7 to turn a three-point halftime deficit into a 41-28 lead.
Russellville then held the Lady Lions to two field goals in the fourth quarter and out-scored them 35-12 in the second half.
Kallie Allen scored seven points for Russellville, and Madison Hargett hit a pair of threes and finished with six. Patricia Borden also scored six, all of which came in the second half.
The Lady Golden Tigers opened play in the Class 5A, Area 14 tournament at Lawrence County High School Monday night but could not pull a win, which ended their season.
