Harold Collins Sparks

Harold Collins Sparks, 75, died Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Southern Magnolia in Golden. He was born in Belmont to Ross and Bernice Ivy Sparks.  He was a self-employed furniture manufacturer for 27 years.  He was a lifetime member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as song director for over 30 years and was a deacon.  He was a 32 degree mason and a Shriner.  He served as Tishomingo County school board member for 38 years.

Services were held Monday, August 31, at 11 a.m. at NewBethelMissionaryBaptistChurchwith Bro. Kara Blackard and Bro. David George officiating. Burial will be in NewBethelCemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife-Julia McCreary Sparks; mother-in-law-Geraldine McCreary; one son-Ted Sparks (Wendy); one daughter-Karen Garvin (Russ); five grandchildren-Tim Garvin (Brittany), Daniel Garvin (Brittany), Tyler Sparks, Tanner Sparks and Julia Katie Garvin; four great grandchildren; three sisters-Syble Clayton, Wanda Winstead and Ann Elrod; five brothers-Clyne, Phillip, W.C., Ralph and Ricky Sparks; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents-C.L. and Ella Ivy and Willis and Isabell Sparks; his parents-Ross and Bernice Sparks; his father-in-law-Barney McCreary; and a sister-in-law-Vickie McCreary Morris 

Pallbearers were Tyler Sparks, Tanner Sparks, Tim Garvin, Daniel Garvin, Randy Hester and Matthew Hester.  Honorary pallbearers will be Clyne Pounders, Willie Smith and Alton Hester.

Visitation was Sunday, August 30, 5-9 p.m. at NewBethelMissionaryBaptistChurch.
