Walter Bailey Barbour, age 83, formerly of Spruce Pine, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at his son’s residence in Coldwater, Miss.

Mr. Barbour was born on Friday, July 29, 1932 to John B. & Margaret Evelyn (Bailey) Barbour and had 4 brothers and 2 sisters.  He lived most of his life in Olive Branch, Miss., however had lived the last 30 plus years with his wife, Ann, in Spruce Pine.  He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Spruce Pine.  He honorably served active duty in the U.S.  Army and fought in the Korean conflict.  He worked for years as an equipment operator in the construction business.

The visitation was Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville.  The funeral followed in the chapel. Dr. Scott Delashaw officiated.  Burial was at Phil Campbell City Cemetery, with military honors.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Walter Anthony Barbour, David Bailey Barbour, Marvin Clay Barbour, Margaret Ann Floyd, Lori Ellen Coopwood; step-son, Keith Reese; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved him and will miss him dearly, as well as several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Margaret Ann Cummings Barbour; daughter, Rita Joyce Weir; granddaughter, Laura Marie Pearson; grandson, Walter Anthony Barbour, Jr., and his parents, John B. & Margaret Evelyn Barbour.

The pallbearers will be Cameron Jones, Edward Floyd, David Barbour, Andrew Baker, John Colton Lindsey, Bradley Barbour, Johnny Bowen, Randy Pike, and Howard Hutcheson.
