Northwest-Shoals Community College grants local students scholarships

These students have earned scholarships from Northwest-Shoals Community College.

– Meaghan Hardy, Russellville, received the “Shelby Grissom Memorial Scholarship” and an ambassador scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College.

A graduate of Phil Campbell High School, Hardy was a member of the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. She was Student Council secretary; Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America reporter; cheerleader co-captain; class president; and Dream Girl Miss Congeniality. Hardy is the daughter of Stacey and Carol Ann Hardy. Her grandparents are Wayne and Cozette Hardy and Joe and Bettye Blankenship. While at Northwest-Shoals, she will pursue a degree in dental hygiene.

– Ashley Nichole Lovett, Hodges, received a salutatorian scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Hackleburg High School, Lovett was a member of Upward Bound, Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Teens Getting Involved for the Future.  She was vice president of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America and salutatorian. Lovett is the daughter of Shane Lovett and Angela Lovett. Her grandparents are John and Barbara Parris, Rita Parris, and Brenda and the late Wayne Lovett. While at Northwest-Shoals, she will pursue a degree in business administration.

– Austin Terry Hester, Spruce Pine, received a performing arts scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Phil Campbell High School, Hester was a member of the band, National Honor Society, Junior Civitan and Future Business Leaders of America. He is the son of Jacqueline Hester and the late Terry D. Hester. His grandparents are Glenn D. Johnson and the late LouVonne Johnson and the late James N. Hester. While at Northwest-Shoals, he will pursue a degree in electronics technology.

– Phillip Gattis, Leighton, received a leadership scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. He attended Russellville High School and plans to pursue an applied science degree.
