Merlyn Elizabeth Hess Hamilton, born Nov. 14, 1927, was taken home to be with our Lord, May 29, 2015, after an extended illness at Burns Nursing and Rehab in Russellville.

The funeral service was Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Belgreen Cemetery.  Officiating was Jackie Richardson and Sammy Taylor.  The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. “Bill” Hamilton; parents, Charles and Naomi Hess; brothers, Charles, George, and Harvey Hess.

She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Hamilton Fowler and husband, Jackie, Patricia Hamilton Oswalt and husband, Larry, and son, Billy Hugh Hamilton and wife, Debbie Hamilton; grandchildren, Teena Fowler Wray, John and Travis Oswalt, Angela Hamilton, Pamela Hamilton Waldrop and husband, Chris, and Jennifer Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Cortney Wray, Chad Wray, Hannah Waldrep, Alyssa Gentry, Austin Gentry, Haylee Hamilton and Emma Jane Mitchell; great-great-grandchild, Leo Dewayne Gentry; brother-in-law, Bob Hamilton “Jerry”; many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

Mother lived a life that should be celebrated and remembered as one filled with serving God, love and laughter.  She lived in Russellville the majority of her married life and was always very active in the community.

Mother loved her family, her church and her Lord.  She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ.

All who knew mother were blessed and loved by her.  She will be greatly missed.  Special thanks to Burns Nursing & Rehab Staff and Hospice of North Alabama for their special care for mother.

Pallbearers were Gene Ellison, Dan Terry, Chad Wray, Mason Rogers, Elton Byram and Bob Hamilton.

Honorary bearers were Travis and John Oswalt and Austin Gentry.
