Russellville is under a state of emergency, as declared by the Russellville City Council.

Councilman and county engineer David Palmer made the motion that had been discussed: to declare a state of emergency, beginning retroactively at 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, at the time the storms began.

The emergency state will continue until Russellville’s Monday night city council meeting. The emergency was declared “for the protection of our citizens…that they need to be extremely cautious,” Palmer said.
Mayor Pro Tem Gary Cummings announced that tornado shelters, as well as the A.W. Todd Center, will be open for anyone needing to seek temporary shelter if Thursday evening rain caused further problems.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
