Vina gets sweep and Tigers edge Bobcats

Red Bay defeats Phil Campbell

         The Red Bay Tigers defeated the Phil Campbell Bobcats last week 9-6.  Phil Campbell opened the game with a three-run first inning.  Red Bay responded with six runs in the bottom of the first.  The Tigers extended their lead to 9-3 with a three-run second inning giving them just enough cushion to hold the win.  Phil Campbell would scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Phil Campbell outhit Red Bay 6-4 in the game.  Troy Borden scored two runs, had two hits, three RBIs and walked twice for the Tigers.  Knoblock also had three RBIs for Red Bay.  Peyton Thomas had two hits, two RBIs and score a run for the Bobcats.

Nick Thorn got the win for Red Bay.

 

Vina sweeps Belgreen

 

Vina defeated Belgreen 10-0.  Tyler Renfrow got the win for the Red Devils pitching a two-hitter and striking out nine.  Vina scored three runs in the first inning, one run in the second and six runs in the third inning.  Austin Childers walked twice and had a three-run double and four total RBIs on the game.  Brandon Cole had two hits.  Justin Gravitt had an RBI hit in the six-run fourth inning as well.  Vina is 6-1 overall and 2-0 in 1A, Area 15.

Vina piled up 13 hits to defeat Belgreen 14-1 in game two Zack Creekmore and Justin Gravitt led Vina three hits each.  Cade Parrish had two hits for the Bulldogs.  Andrew Upton had three RBIs for Vina.  Brandon Cole struck out six for the Red Devils.
