The KGB brings sibling trio back to Russellville

After closing out 2014 with their annual Christmas show, the Kerry Gilbert Band and the Roxy Theatre in Russellville, Ala. are ready to kick start the New Year with an energetic show on Jan. 10.

The Kerry Gilbert Band will be hosting their Rockin’ at the Roxy show Saturday at 7 pm at the Roxy Theatre in downtown Russellville with special guests The Cains Trio, a local group of siblings who, according to Gilbert, are on the rise.

Gilbert said the Christmas show had a great crowd and now he’s looking forward to starting the year off strong.

“The show this Saturday is going to be a great one,” Gilbert said. “I’m really looking forward to The Cains Trio coming back and performing with us.”

Gilbert said the Cains performed at the Roxy back in the fall and it was a show that he won’t soon forget.

“They came and played at the show back in Sept. and I will never forget that day because it was right after my dad had passed,” Gilbert said. “I didn’t want to sit around and mope about it and decided to just come on out and play that evening. My dad would have wanted me to get out there and play.”

Gilbert said The Cains Trio is a unique talent and a talent that is on the rise.

“I want people to come out and hear these kids because they have a serious chance of having a breakthrough,” Gilbert said. “I think they are better than Lady Antebellum or Little Big Town.

“They have a very fresh attitude and all of them are extremely talented and charismatic,” he said.

Madison Cain, the middle sibling of the trio, said that 2015 will see the group focused on radio tours and their newest single, “Be Yourself with Me.”

“I feel like we’ve come a long way,” Cain said. “We’ve been working at our music for pretty much our whole lives.”

Cain said that Saturday they will be opening for the KGB, but that they will probably play an extended set.

“Playing and working together as a family, when it’s just us three, that is when we do our best probably,” Cain said.

“We have a rare relationship with each other,” she said. “We are all one year apart.”

Gilbert said The Cains Trio are the type of people that make you feel better after being around them.

“They are a real harmonious group and they leave you feeling better after being around them,” Gilbert said. “I think that is a big key in being successful.”

Cain said that there is no clear-cut path for how to break into country music, but she and her siblings are trying to do it their way.

“I think you just have to do what you like and try and do something different,” Cain said. “From there you have to hope it all works out.”
