Cost share assistance available

The Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) office will be immediately accepting applications for cost-share assistance for installation of conservation practices on private properties located in the upper portion of Cedar Creek Watershed.  Cedar Creek is located near the Alabama 24 corridor between Russellville and Waco. It also includes Cherry Hill Creek and Pain Creek, both in the Russellville area.

Applications will be accepted from any landowner in the upper Cedar Creek Watershed. The program will provide cost-share assistance for practices such as fence installation, water troughs, protection of eroding surfaces, tree planting and bank stabilization.  Other practices may qualify for assistance.

Applications will be accepted now through the month of November. Money and time is limited so please contact Robert Clement at the Franklin County SWCD if you would like to find out more about the program before the first of December. This is a voluntary program and there is no obligation if you call.

Clement said he will be happy to discuss the program over the phone or walk over the landowner’s property to discuss possible projects.

Clement can be reached at the NRCS/SWCD office in the Russellville Wellness Center parking lot (old Food World parking lot) on U.S. 43 in Russellville or by phone at 256-332-0274.

This project was funded or partially funded by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
