The streets inside the city limits of Russellville got a much-needed cleaning this past Saturday as several city departments set aside a specific time to pick up trash, limbs and other debris on the sides of the roads.

According to Russellville Mayor David Grissom, members of the street department as well as several council members began the cleaning before 6 a.m. Saturday and did not finish until late Saturday afternoon.

“This was something that we had been needing to do for several weeks, and we thought it would be best if we took one whole day to get the garbage and debris picked up off the streets,” Grissom.

“We take pride in our city and no one wants to have to see all of this unwanted stuff sitting on the side of the road.

“Everyone worked together and now the city looks much better.”

Grissom said in addition to the street department and the city council, the Russellville Police Department and the Russellville Electric Department also helped in the cleanup process.

“This was definitely a team effort,” Grissom said.

“I appreciate each person who had a hand in this city-wide cleanup day that benefited all of our residents.”
