Ross White, 82, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at ECM Hospital, Florence.

He was born July 27, 1931 in the Halltown Community and was retired from Reynolds Aluminum. He was a member of Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 56 years. He was president of Franklin Electric Cooperative Board. He was a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War and was chaplain of American Legion Post #120 in Red Bay.

Services were on Thursday, March 27, at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Lindsay, Bro. David Corum and Bro. Clayton Hampton officiating. Burial was in Halltown Cemetery, Vina.

Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Agnes White, of Red Bay; three daughters, Donna Purser and husband, Jimmy, of Red Bay, Tammy Hampton and husband, Clayton, of Clinton Township, Mich., and Melissa Evans and husband, Ben, of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Jamie Purser and wife, Mandy, Justin Purser, Sarah Jenkins and husband Brent, Joshua Hampton and wife, Kim) Jonathan Hampton, Anna Evans, Connor Evans and Lily Evans; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy “J.D.” White and wife, Sicily; one sister, Brenda Frame and husband, Ron; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Sarah White; sisters and brothers, Terry Fallon, Lee Pottenger, L.C. White, Thomas White and John Edward White.

Pallbearers were Jamie Purser, Justin Purser, Joshua Hampton, Jonathan Hampton, Connor Evans and Kaleb Burroughs. Honorary pallbearer was Alex Burroughs.

Visitation was Wednesday, March 26, at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church and until service time on Thursday.
