Red Bay picked up a huge non-region, 8-2 win against Sheffield Thursday night.
Sheffield came into the game ranked #1 in 2A.
“This was a big win for Red Bay because it gave our young team that consists of one senior and one junior the understanding and confidence that they can beat anybody they play if they come prepared and focused,” Tiger head baseball coach Richard Maggerise said.
“I believe it showed a glimpse of how good we could be in the future.”
Red Bay’s Troy Borden got the win in three innings with three hits, giving up two earned runs.
Landon Burgett got the save with one hit and three strikeouts.
Sheffield scored their only two runs in the first and jumped out to a 2-0 lead that carried them in the third inning.
Red Bay scored four runs in the bottom of the third and four in the bottom of the fifth to take the five-inning win.
The game was shortened with two outs in the bottom of the 5th because of lightning.
Troy Borden, Kaleb Burroughs, and Austin Milam had one hit each. Fred Nethery had two.
Chandler Allen, Troy Borden, Kalen Burroughs, Josh Wilson, Colby Knoblock, Austin Milam, and Fred Nethery had single RBIs. Nethery had two.

Dalen Sledge, Justin Beavers, Jordan Beavers, and Ryan Ruggles each had one hit for Sheffield.
Red Bay will host Phillips High School on April 3 and will play area rival Cherokee on April 7-8.
