Evelyn F. Davis Hester, 56, went to her heavenly home March 20, 2014.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Evelyn was an employee of Sunshine Mills for many years before retiring early due to her diagnosis of Lou Gehrig’s Disease also known as ALS. She fought a courageous battle with this disease for three years. She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 22, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Cody Tucker and Bro. Clint Holcombe officiating. Burial was in Old Burleson Cemetery, Vina.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Gene Hester; a son, Chris Hester and wife, Deanna; and two very special granddaughters who she adored with all her heart, Madisyn and Makenzie Hester; two brothers, Louis Davis and wife, Janice, and Steve Davis; three sisters, Rebecca Stephens and husband, Ron, Kathy Wiggins and husband, John, and Betty Davis; and her husband’s family, David Hester and wife, Carolyn, June Creekmore and husband, Duane, and Barbara Weaver and husband, Thomas; as well as six nieces and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Martha Davis; two brothers, Russ and Stan Davis; her mother and father-in-law, Travis and Mary Lou Hester; brothers-in-law, Robert and Billy Hester; one niece, Sandra Hester and a nephew, Wayne Weaver.

Pallbearers were Marty Hester, John Wiggins, Duane Creekmore, David Hester, Ron Stephens and Steve McDonough. Honorary pallbearer was Chase Knoblock.

Visitation was on Friday, March 21, at Deaton Funeral Home and until service time on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association in memory of Evelyn Hester.
