Red Bay posts win over Covenant Christian

Red Bay sophomore Troy Borden picked up his fourth and fifth home runs of the season to lift the Varsity Tiger baseball team to a 10-5 win over Covenant Christian this past Saturday.
Borden also picked up the win on the mound, giving up eight hits with 10 strikeouts.
Red Bay trailed 4-2 at the end of the first inning, but came back and added one run in the fourth, two runs in the fifth, one run sixth and four runs in the seventh.
Covenant Christian scored four in the first and one in the seventh.
Along with Borden’s two hits, Nick Thorn, Josh Wilson, and Austin Milam had one each.
Fred Nethery and Borden scored two times for Red Bay. Thorn, Wilson, Milam, Allen, Holt, and McKinney also crossed the plate for the Tigers.
Tharptown 11, Red Bay 5
Last Thursday, the Varsity Tharptown Wildcats earned an 11-5 win over Red Bay.
Christopher Bohannon picked up the win on the mound with six strikeouts in the six innings pitched.
John Staggs pitched relief in the seventh.
Kelby Hallmark had two runs and two hits, Riley Nolan had one run and three hits, Christopher Bohannon had one run and three hits, John Staggs had one run and one hit, Jimmy Hines had two runs and two hits, Maxwell Nolen had two hits, Tristen Smith had one run and one hit, William Little had two runs and two hits, Michael Rice had one run and one hit.
Tharptown scored one run in the first, three in the second, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and four in the sixth on 16 hits.
Red Bay scored two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth on five hits.
Red Bay’s Fred Nethery, Nick Thorn, Jade Pounds, Troy Borden, had one run and one hit each.
Josh Wilson had one hit for Red Bay.
Red Bay JV 14, Tharptown JV 1
Red Bay’s junior high team defeated Tharptown last Thursday 14-1.
Red Bay scored one run in the first, three in the second, and 10 in the third on five hits in the four-inning game.
Zach Humphries, Kolby Bragwell, Peyton Green, William Murray, Skylar Brazil all had one hit each.
Humphries and Murray had two RBIs, Green, Daughtry, Willaims, and Weatherford had one RBI each.
Bragwell was the winning pitcher with 11 strikeouts.
