Tharptown’s B-Varsity boys clinch division title

Finals: Tharptown 44, Red Bay 31

The Tharptown Wildcats used a big third quarter to capture the B-Varsity Franklin County title.

Tharptown and Red Bay were tied 15-15 at the half. The Wildcats outscored the Tigers 29-16 in the second half in route to the 44-31 win.

The Wildcats had two scorers in double figures in the win: Allen Gaston led all scorers with 15 points, and Zack Wilson added 11 points. Mike Rice and Tristan Tubb scored four points each.

Landon Burgett led the Red Bay Tigers with 10 points. Others scoring for the Tigers were Payton Thorn (6), Tyler Reach (6), Chandler Allen (3), Dylan Pearson (3), Buddy Kuykendall (2), and Blake Hester (1).

 

Semi-Finals: Red Bay 47, Belgreen 42

The Red Bay Tigers and Belgreen Bulldogs battled back and forth to a first half tie at 23 all.

Belgreen outscored Red Bay 13-6 in the third quarter to take a seven-point lead into the final quarter of play. Red Bay, however, dominated the fourth quarter 18-6 to give the Tigers’ B-Varsity boys a birth in the finals versus the Tharptown Wildcats.

Red Bay had two scorers in double figures: Buddy Kuykendall had 10 points and Landon Burgett had 11 points. Others scoring were Chandler Allen (7), Blake Hester (3), Payton Thorn (2), Tyler Reach (9), and Dylan Pearson (5).

Belgreen had two scorers in double figures: Chance Landers led all scorers with 15 points and Franky Wallace scored 10 points. Other Bulldogs scoring were Drew Willis (2), Abram Thorn (4), Zach Wilkinson (5), and Shawn Jones (6).
