Cherokee overpowers Vina 87-42

The Cherokee Indians were too much for Vina as they defeated the Red Devils by a score of 87-42 in the varsity boys’ game Monday night.

Cherokee got off to a fast start and held on for the win while being led by Jolly Benjamin’s 27 points. Benjamin scored all of his game-high points in only three quarters of action as the Indians substituted liberally in the final quarter.

Cherokee led 49-25 at the half and 74-36 at the end of the third quarter.

Vina was led in scoring by Andrew Hester, who scored 13 points for the Red Devils.

Vina’s Seth Brewer scored seven points in the game. He was followed by teammates Joseph Emerson (6), Marcus Goodway (6), Eddie Dees (5), Hunter Haithcock (3) and Eli Hiser (2).
