It was raining three’s in Tharptown Thursday night.

Trailing by as much as 17 points in the first half of Thursday’s game against the Covenant Christian Eagles, the Wildcats came storming back late in the third quarter and through the final period of play to defeat Covenant Christian by a score of 66-54.

The Eagles led the Wildcats 34-27 at halftime and held the lead through the third quarter. However, Tharptown senior Riley Nolen nailed back-to-back threes at the very end of the third quarter and the very beginning of the fourth quarter to give the Wildcats a lead they would not relinquish.

Nolen’s three was the first of what would be six straight three-pointers by the Wildcats and a 15-2 run that would give the Wildcats the 66-54 win.

Sophomore Max Nolen led the Wildcats with 23 points on the night.  Kelby Hallmark also scored in double digits with 21 points. Riley Nolen added nine points. Also scoring were Heath Hatton (6), Nathan Chaney (3), Drake Lawson (3), and Brady Petree (1).
