Grace Girls ‘wrap for a reason’

If you find yourself surrounded by a pile of presents this holiday season and not enough time to get them all wrapped, a local group is stepping in to help out the community while also raising money for a worthy cause.

The Grace Girls, a local community service-oriented group, will be sponsoring “Wrap with Reason, Tis’ the Season” in the next few weeks where they will be wrapping Christmas presents as a “Hero Project” to benefit Safe Place, Inc.

In the past, the Grace Girls have done projects that have benefited breast cancer research and the FAME Girls Ranch.

Group member Alana Reeves said they brainstormed ideas for a good project in December and, after talking about how hard it can be for working moms or busy families to get everything done in time for the holidays, they decided the gift wrapping fundraiser to benefit Safe Place, Inc. would be a great idea.

“This is really a win-win kind of fundraiser,” Reeves said. “You get help wrapping your presents and you help a local, worthy cause at the same time.”

Anyone wishing to participate in this fundraiser can bring unwrapped presents to the old Alverson Real Estate office at the corner of Washington Avenue and Cotaco Street in downtown Russellville on Friday, Dec. 13, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Dec. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Reeves said gift wrapping will range from $3-$8 with donations much appreciated. Snacks and photo props will also be available for small donations.
