William Haston Oliver, 88, Phil Campbell, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Russellville Hospital.

He lived his entire life in Franklin County and was a member of Phil Campbell Church of Christ. He was retired from Reynolds Metals Company.

He was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Army under Gen. George Patton. He received a Bronze Star, Silver Star and other honors.

Funeral services were Monday, May 20, 2013, at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, with Shawn Wallace officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.

Survivors include son, Randy Oliver and wife, Sandra; brother-in-law, James M. Parrish, Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Andrea Akers and husband, Larry, Amanda Smith and husband, Jon, Lynlie Cottrell and husband, Dan; great-grandchildren, Summer, Noah and Laurie Anne Akers and Eli and Paxton Smith; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanell, after 66 years of marriage. He passed away on their anniversary date. He was also preceded in death by parents, William Barney and Maudie Lawler Oliver; brother, Bernard Oliver; sister, Hazel Trapp.

Haston often quoted I Cor. 13:13 “And now abideth faith, hope, love—but the greatest of these is love.” This was evident in his love for God, family and country, but most evident in his sincere love and devotion to his wife Jeanell.
