On May 19, 2013, God called James T. Hellums to his heavenly home.

He was 81. He was born on July 24, 1931, in Russellville.

The funeral service was Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Knights of Pythias Cemetery. Officiating was Joe Lenox.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Jane Andrews Hellums; one son, David Hellums and fiancée, Connie D. Brannon; three grandchildren, Drew A. Hellums, Ashley A. Hellums and Houston Tyler Hellums, of Florida; one sister, Evelyn Strange of Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles C. and Elsie Harris Hellums; his precious daughter, Emily Kay Hellums; sisters, Eulaia, Burneice and Vretta; brothers, Herbert and Theo.

He was employed by Reynolds Metals Company for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1953. He was in the Korean War and was an Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. He was president of the Civitan Club.

Pallbearers were Charles Keeton, Roy Cornelison, Larry Howell, Bill Williams, Corey Jones and Buddy Gray.

The family wants to thank Southern Care Hospice, especially Tristen, for all their help.
