RHS show choir presents spring show this weekend
The Russellville High School Show Choir is lighting up the stage this weekend with their spring show “Dynamite!”
Community members still have two chances to watch the show, presented at the RHS Auditorium, tonight at 7 p.m. and tomorrow at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and tickets can be purchased at the door.
RHS choral director Joey Derr said the show is an original compilation of songs from the 80s, 90s and current hits, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.
“The inspiration for this show was just to give all the students a chance to have fun and show off their individuality,” Derr said.
“They have had a lot of fun working on it and it really shows in their performances.”
Derr said the show will feature an “Awesome 80s” segment, a Michael Jackson medley, selections from the Broadway hits “Les Misérables” and “Mama Mia,” selections from the popular TV show “Glee,” and current hits such as “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri and “Dynamite” by Bruno Mars.
“These songs will feature fresh arrangements and many of them have an upbeat tempo that make it a very energetic show,” Derr said.
“We also have a ton of costume changes and great lighting that add even more interest to the performance.”
Derr said the students have been working on the show since January and have logged many hours to make sure this is a top-notch performance.
“The kids have really put their all into this show and are excited about presenting it to the community,” he said.
“They did a sneak peak performance for the high school on Thursday and that went really well and the crowd seemed to love it, so now they’re even more excited to perform this weekend.”
