A Vina man accused of raping and sexually abusing two 15-year-old girls in July was indicted by the January grand jury, Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said.

Jerry Lee Davis, 56, 8911 Alabama 19, Vina, was indicted for first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree sexual abuse, first-degree rape, second-degree rape and six counts of giving alcohol to minor.

Rushing said the charges stem from incidents that occurred the weekend of July 13-15, 2012.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, the victims were two 15-year-old girls from out of state who had come to the area to visit a relative of Davis’.

Oliver said while the girls were riding four wheelers at his house on July 13, Davis bought alcohol that he reportedly gave to the girls later that night.

Oliver said Davis and the girls apparently had too much alcohol to drink and they alleged that Davis touched one girl inappropriately and tried to force her to touch him as well.

“The girls were from out of town so they were spending the night at Davis’ residence,” Oliver said. “They were still there the next day and apparently started drinking again the next night, which is when the second incident occurred.”

Oliver said on July 14, the second girl reportedly had too much to drink and had gotten sick.

He said when she was in the bathroom, Davis allegedly came into the bathroom, picked her up and carried her to a bedroom where the victim reported that he took off her clothes and forced her to have sex.

“The victim stated she tried to push him off of her, but he wouldn’t move,” Oliver said.

After the incident, investigators said the two girls were able to get out of the house and made it to a phone where one girl called her parents to tell them about the abuse.

“We received a call from the parents early Sunday morning after they received a call from their daughter describing what happened,” Oliver said.

“The deputy dispatched to the scene found the two girls on the side of the road. They found Davis at his residence where he was arrested.”

Oliver said during questioning, Davis admitted to the crimes.

Davis has been out of jail on a $75,000 bond since shortly after his arrest on July 15.

Rushing said Davis’ case should be scheduled for arraignment on Feb. 13 and would be placed on the April criminal trial docket.
