Red Bay Garden Club hosting tour of homes

RED BAY – To get in the Christmas spirit, the Red Bay Garden Club will be hosting a tour of homes that will feature several local residences that will be all decorated for the holidays.
The tour is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 9, from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. and will feature the homes of Rep. Johnny Mack and Dr. Martha Morrow, David and Peggy Tiffin, and David and Barbara Humphries.
Tracie Bolding, who is part of the Red Bay Garden Club’s Tour of Homes committee, said the event is something the club used to sponsor several years ago and decided to bring back for this holiday season.
“We haven’t hosted the Tour of Homes in years, but it was always something the citizens of the town and even people from out of town seemed to enjoy, so we thought we would bring it back this year,” Bolding said.
“Seeing these beautiful homes all decorated for the holidays is just a great way to get in the Christmas spirit.”
Bolding added it is also a great way to fellowship with people in town and spend quality time with other people as well.
“These families who have graciously agreed to open up their homes to the community just make you feel welcome,” she said.
“The Garden Club will be providing refreshments at each of the homes on the tour and it’s a good time to relax, mingle and just have a good time.”
Tickets to the event will be $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event with proceeds benefiting the Red Bay Garden Club.
“The money we raise will go towards funding the projects we do throughout the year, such as our efforts to beautify the city with the hanging baskets downtown and the Bay Tree planters; the Arbor Day program we host; the Streetscape contest in the fall; litter control and bird conservation,” she said.
“And while the event will raise money for our club, we also hope it will boost revenue and interest in the city itself.
“Hopefully people will be eating and shopping in town while they’re here for the event, and we hope those from out of town enjoy their time in Red Bay and come back to visit us.
“Red Bay is such a great place with so many good people and the Tour of Homes is a good way to showcase all we have to offer here.”
Advance tickets for the event are on sale now at Red Bay City Hall, Clifton Chiropractic and Cashion Thermoplastics.
A map to each of the homes on the tour will be printed on the back of the tickets.
