Wallace wins Dist. 1 race

District 1 Commission candidate Chris Wallace was all smiles Tuesday night as he realized that the last 10 months of campaigning had culminated in a victory.

Wallace, the republican candidate in the race, pulled out a win over democrat William Bishop by a margin of 5,463 to 4,938.

Wallace said he owed his win to his family, friends and supporters throughout the county who have been a constant source of encouragement during the course of his campaign.

“I can’t thank my wife, Cheri, my children, Slate and Juliana, and all my other supporters enough,” Wallace said.

“And I also appreciate the good, clean race that William Bishop ran. He is a good man and someone I respect. I think a lot of him and have nothing but good things to say about William.”

Wallace said since this was his first time entering the political arena he didn’t know what to expect, but he said he was excited to have the opportunity to serve Franklin County’s citizens for the next four years.

“I am definitely ready to begin serving the people and getting more jobs into our county,” Wallace said. “I think we have a good four years ahead of us and I’m ready to be a part of the progress that will take place in this county.”
