City man indicted in New Year’s Eve robbery

A Russellville man accused of robbing another man at gunpoint this past New Year’s Eve was indicted by a recent grand jury, courthouse officials said.

Jeffery Allen Hamm, 30, 1633 Cook Creek Rd., Russellville, was indicted for first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary.

According to reports, Hamm and another man were accused of robbing a Hispanic male on Dec. 31, 2011, in the Mill Village area behind Russellville Hospital.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said reports stated the two men approached the victim and demanded money.

After taking the man’s cash and cell phone, the two men fled the scene on foot, Hargett said.

Reports state a black handgun was used to threaten the victim during the event.

After an extensive investigation, Hamm and the other individual were developed as suspects.

Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said Hamm’s case will be placed on the December criminal trial docket.
