B.C. Allen

B.C. Allen

September 25, 2012

B.C. Allen, 76, Russellville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at Helen Keller Hospital.

Mr. Allen was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a member of First Baptist Church, Russellville. He was retired from N.T.N. Bower and was a Mason in Russellville, Lodge 371.

B.C., referred to as Baby Cakes by family, and Butter Cup by friends; because he would bloom-out, could make you laugh and really enjoy life more when you were around him.

He was a strong believer in family; a loving husband, father and paw-paw. B.C. was a Big Alabama and Russellville High School football fan and a solid UAW member who enjoyed Apple chewing tobacco, fishing and rabbit hunting throughout his life.

Even though in later years B.C. could only enjoy watching his favorite shows, Sanford and Son, The Three Stooges, Charles Bronson and Tarzan movies, he still retained his sense of humor and keen views of life.

Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Knights of Pythias Cemetery with Thomas Thornton officiating.

Survivors include wife, Ruby L. Allen; children, Jeff Allen, Russellville, Debbie Reed and husband, Doug, Florence; grandchildren, Kim Borden and husband, Dustin, and Brandon Reed and wife Ramona; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were be Gary Roberts, Ronnie Bobo, Marshall Blackburn, Jason Miller, Tim Smith and Bill Lindsey.

Honorary bearers were Brandon Reed, Terry Miller, Lynwood Suddith and Donald Quade.

He was preceded in death by parents, Joe W. and Effie Allen; brother, Joe Eddie Allen; sisters, Irene Bunnell, Mattie Lou McAnally, and Ora Reed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Deal and North Alabama Hospice for the special attention they provided for him while under their care.

B.C. will be deeply missed in this walk of life by many, especially his family, and is now waiting to be reunited with them and his friends again in Heaven.
