Police arrest man suspected in two home burglaries
A Russellville man who allegedly broke into two houses at the end of April is now in custody, officials said.
Benny Lee Hamilton, 42, 103 Mines St., Russellville, was arrested for first-degree theft of property, second-degree theft of property, first-degree receiving stolen property and two counts of third-degree burglary.
According to Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett, his department received two different reports from burglaries that took place between April 24 and April 28 in the 700 block of Jackson Avenue.
During the course of the investigation, Hargett said they were able to develop Hamilton as a suspect through some of the different items that were allegedly taken during the burglaries.
Investigator Lt. Scotty Lowery said they were able to find some of the items such as jewelry and porcelain dolls at local pawn shops and returned the items to the owners.
Hamilton is still in custody at the Franklin County Jail pending a revocation hearing for bond violations in a different burglary case.
