Edna George, 86, of Tremont, Miss. died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at The Meadows, Fulton, Miss. She was a native of Alabama, a childcare giver for more than 25 years and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Fuenral services were held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala. with Bro. Jerry George and Bro. Matthew Haney officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery, in Vina, Ala.
She is survived by one daughter, Delitha Stone and husband, Bill, of Tremont, Miss.; two sons, Willie George and wife, Helen, of Rienzi, Miss. and Jerry George and wife, Shanda, of Belmont, Miss.; daughter-in-law, Linda Sparks and husband, Gerald, of Fulton, Miss.; sons-in-law, Stoney Pettigo and wife, Alice and Ray Jackson, all of Tremont, Miss.; four sisters, Margaret Montgomery and husband, Charles, of Russellville, Ala., Marcene Oliver and Ester Duncan, both of Tuscumbia, Ala. and Geraldine Seahorn, of Red Bay, Ala.; two brothers, Albert Hand and Sidney Hand, both of Littleville, Ala.; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elfred L. George; two daughters, Margie Pettigo and Melba Jackson; son, Therman George; and her parents, Sherman and Ada Hand.
Pallbearers were Ronnie George, Neal George, Lowell Jackson, Chris Jackson, Jared George, David George, Nathan George and Stephen George. Honorary pallbearers were Jackie Pettigo, Larry Jackson and Troy Miller.
