Man arrested on drug, rape charges

Authorities with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Russellville man on Tuesday after they received information about the illegal activity he was involved in.

Brett Cameron Young, 22, 1504 Underwood Road, Russellville, was arrested on charges of first-degree possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree rape.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, investigators had received information that Young was giving out marijuana to minors.

After interviewing several of the people involved, officers obtained a search warrant and while executing the search warrant at Young’s residence, officers found large quantities of marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia including digital scales and devices used to smoke marijuana.

Oliver said during the course of the investigation, officers also discovered Young had been involved in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old female, which resulted in the statutory rape charge.

Young was released from the Franklin County Jail on Wednesday on a $30,000 property bond.
