DHR employees raise money for Reed scholarship

Members of the Franklin County Department of Human Resources held their biannual hamburger lunch fundraiser this past Friday to support the Franklin County DHR Scholarship in Memory of James Gary Reed.

Reed was a child support supervisor at the Franklin County DHR for 29 years before he passed away in July of 2007.

“We already had a scholarship in place called the Dreams Have Rewards scholarship but we renamed it in 2007 in memory of Gary,” financial support worker Sonja Willingham said.

“In the past we have given away four scholarships per year – two in the county and two in the city. We know how important these scholarships can be to some students and Gary was always supportive of them.”

Service social worker Stephanie Pinkard said they try to do the hamburger lunch fundraiser at least twice a year, and they were able to see close to 400 lunches this time.
